ΑΙΚΑΤΕΡΙΝΗ ΠΑΠΑΝΙΚΟΛΑΟΥ M.D., Ph.D.
Η Κατερίνα Παπανικολάου γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1965 και από το 2021 είναι Καθηγήτρια Παιδοψυχιατρικής και Διευθύντρια του Τμήματος Παιδοψυχιατρικής της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών.
Σπούδασε ιατρική στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (1982-1988) και αφού ολοκλήρωσε την ειδικότητά της στη νευρολογία (1/1989-7/1989), την ψυχιατρική (8/1989-2/1991) και την παιδοψυχιατρική (3/1991-5/93), έλαβε το Πιστοποιητικό Ειδικότητας στην Παιδοψυχιατρική το 1992 μετά από εξετάσεις του συμβουλίου. Η διδακτορική της διατριβή με τίτλο «Ο ρόλος της μετα-ανάλυσης στην αξιολόγηση της αποτελεσματικότητας των αντικαταθλιπτικών στη κατάθλιψη παιδιών και εφήβων» παρουσιάστηκε στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών το 2003.
Διορίστηκε ως Επίτιμη Ανώτερη Επιμελήτρια στις Υπηρεσίες Παιδοψυχιατρικής και Οικογενειακής Ψυχιατρικής στο Leicester, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο (6/1994-4/1995), ως Κλινική Ερευνήτρια στο Institute of Psychiatry, MRC Child Psychiatry και ως Επίτιμη Αναπληρώτρια Ειδικευμένη στο Maudsley Hospital, Λονδίνο, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο (4/1995-8/1996). Εργάστηκε ως Παιδοψυχίατρος στο NHS στο Τμήμα Παιδοψυχιατρικής της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών μεταξύ 1998 και 2003.
Είναι υπεύθυνη του Ειδικού Ιατρείου Αυτισμού της Παιδοψυχιατρικής Κλινικής της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών από το 1998.
Οι ερευνητικές δραστηριότητες της Δρ. Παπανικολάου επικεντρώνονται κυρίως στον αυτισμό, στη μεθοδολογία μετα-ανάλυσης, στη γνωσιακή θεραπεία και στην παιδική παχυσαρκία. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε διάφορα εθνικά, ευρωπαϊκά και διεθνή ερευνητικά προγράμματα. Είναι συγγραφέας ή συν-συγγραφέας περισσότερων από 80 άρθρων σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά με κριτές και έχει περισσότερες από 8000 αναφορές.
